Time traveling

This week was particularly quiet on the blog. Let me tell you why. I was time traveling with my friends Helen and Rachel to Ghent in Belgium. Helen and me lived and studied in Ghent for 6 months. We look back at that Erasmus time in Belgium as a carefree, fun and exciting time that we got to live in this beautiful town in a student home with 15 other internationals. Coming back to Ghent we walked the streets that we know so well and wondered about new buildings and closed shops. We stopped every now and then and one of us said: Do you remember….? combined with a fun story of our long nights, international friends, the belgian beer, the funny moments and even the studying.  We sat down at the Graslei had a Belgian beer and continued telling our stories to each other laughing and remembering.  Isn’t it the greatest gift to have friends you can share memories with?

I can already envision us over 30 years sitting there again (maybe not sitting on the ground but wrapped in a warm blanket). Watching the new students sitting at the river and indulging in our memories that we made in this city many many years before they were even born. It is what they call friendship, it is what they call memories.

NO ONE LOOKS BACK AT THEIR LIFE REMEMBERING THE NIGHTS THEY HAD PLENTY OF SLEEP

And as far as my memories go, we never had too much sleep in our Erasmus time in Ghent.
