Being Switzerland
They are not all your friends.
I am addicted to harmony. That drives my brother crazy and since I was a little girl he tells me to become stronger and to fight. I never changed …. I just want harmony around me. When it came to fights at school, to the divorce of my parents or to a fight between two people I was like Switzerland… I just chose to be neutral and I didn’t want to be part of the fight. The hard thing to run an own company and to choose to write a blog is that you have to put yourself out there, you cannot be Switzerland anymore you have to choose one position. What happens when you choose one position, one opinion and you choose to show yourself in our online digital world is you will find people who like you and support you. They will tell you how much they like your blog and follow each day. And on the other side there are the people that don’t like you. Compared to your fans they wont tell it to you in person, they will write an email, a comment on your blog or on social media. And as much as I try those haters always hit me strong. I always take it personally. Since we switched to write this blog more frequently last year both sides, the fans and the haters grew and it made my heart sing every time somebody told me they like my blog. I am putting a lot of myself here and I do it because I like to blog. It is just my thing.
With the time I accepted the haters and I grew with every negative message. They are not all my friends and that is good. There are two options: either you like what I write or you don’t, which is completely fine. I would suggest you just stop reading my blog if you don’t like what I have to say – that makes it a little easier for me and a lot easier for yourself.
And here are some tips for those of you out there who had this painful experience of haters about your work:
They are not all your friends. Having an opinion and showing who you are we always evoke a counter opinion. Congratulations if you came this far there are still too many people out there that want to be Switzerland.
