Travel: Crete

Arriving at the beautiful island of Crete we were welcomed with sun and friendly people. We enjoyed the dinner for two at a Greek taverna every night and shared Greek appetizers together. Talking about life, about the great food, the great wine, the wonderful hospitality on the island. Seriously this island stole my heart. The beauty of the nature and the crystal blue sea just kept my breath and the great home made food at every taverna we chose just got me thinking about a Greek cooking class. We went to Spain before were we also shared tapas but these "mezedes" were even so much better. I love the idea of sharing food together instead of just eating each a single meal. So food wise I was right in heaven. The best way to enjoy the nature and the Greek cuisine is going hiking (not the main tourist roads) and end your hiking route in a small rural taverna.

5 fun facts about Jennifer that you didn’t know

So we are enjoying a little break in the middle of the wedding season. So we are entertaining you here with 5 fun facts about... me ! 1) When I was a child I always wanted to study chemistry. I thought it must be so exciting to experiment with harzadous fluids all day and build fireworks. My first chemistry class at high school with formulas and the table of elements let my dream die within 15 minutes.

Keepsakes tour recap

There have already been some posts on the blog about the Keepsakes tour in March and I promise this will be the last one. Travelling with Justin and Mary Marantz and Philip Landerer for 8 days was fun, it was intense, it was good food and wine, it was a different Hotel every second night, it was thinking in two languages, it was five different cities and it was five people in a van. I enjoyed this intense time a lot and I learned a lot from those people traveling with me and the tour itself. With these images of our last day off in Stuttgart I want to tell you a little about what I learned and what really reached my heart these days.

May 23rd 2014 – A love letter

Wow how to start this post. It is going to be a personal one. I have love around me every day as a wedding photographer. It is my life and it is my work and I love to hear these love stories from my couples over and over again but when it comes to our story I sit silently behind my desk and smile and remember and I just don’t find the words. So this post is dedicated to my love: to Conrad.

My blog turns 5 years old !

Today 5 years ago I decided in our small flat in Bussum (Netherlands) I could start a blog. I started with an experimental portrait session. A gothic girl with color key images. It was a long way to find my own voice and style of photography and I am not ashamed of these first steps. I never deleted a post in the past five years. I didn't know photography would become my profession that 15th of May 2009 it was just a hobby.

I am a color runner

Some weeks ago my friend Helen wrote me a message "There is the Color Run in Münster in May, let's run there ! " A run ? I was a little terrified. Those of you who know me might know that running a marathon (or at least a half marathon) is on my life bucket list but since Christmas I have some ITBS problems with my knee so I couldn't run since then. "Sounds great but I have to see if my knee is going to be fine then." Was my answer to her. And while I started to research a little about what to do against my knee injury she started bombing me with messages about the run and if I already know I could come with her.
