Why not me?
„Why not me?“ Did you ever have that sentence in your mind looking around and seeing others who „made it“ or who just live the life that you want to have. You look at people having an extremely successful business, living the lifestyle of your dreams, wearing the clothes that you cannot afford. And all you feel is a knot in your gut, the green jealousy coming up in your throat and that one thought: „Why not me?“
I can tell you three things about this:
- You are not alone. I am not sure if that makes you feel better but just if it does, you are not alone.
- These people are not just lucky and everything came to them without any work (there are always exceptions of peoples being at the right time at the right place winning the lottery). Most of them worked really really hard to make their dreams come true and to make their business work as it does now.
- Your negative mindset is stopping you of becoming one of them.
Instead of tasting that bitterness of jealousy on your tongue and feeling sad you should turn around. Over the past weeks and months I learned that the most impotant and first factor on your way to success is your mind. If you have your mindset set to „she is always better“, „that can never be me“, „of course I didn’t get that dream client, I am not lucky“ the world will deliver nothing to you but just what you are expecting: negativity. Changing that mindset from being fearful, jealousy and failure to positivity, success and receiving is the first step on a ladder to the life that you are craving.
Here are 6 steps to follow to reset your mind from failure to success.
1. What is your dream
If we would sit down together and I ask you: What is your dream? What would be your answer in just a few sentences? Do you have an idea of YOUR dream? Or do you just stalk and follow other people online and crave their lives? Believe me one thing: their life is already taken, better start dreaming your dream life and stop glorifying theirs. So reset your mind, sit down, have a tea, and start writing your ideal life. How would it look? Without a clear idea of your dream life you will never be able to live it and always chase somebody else’s lives.
2. Stop comparing yourself to others
Just stop looking at others. It doesn’t help you, it doesn’t make you better and it surely doesn’t help your mindset being jealous or feeling inferior. Here is a post about How to stop feeling jealous that might help you.
3. Be ready to do the work
People who are successful are the people who are ready to do the work, who don’t stop and who stand up when they fall. They are not afraid of hard work, long hours, and rethinking ideas that might have to change. They are not afraid to fail because simply „failure“ is not an option. Be ready to do the work, to stand up again, to run against walls, to get the dust of your pants and to keep running to get a mindset that simply doesn’t accept any kind of failure.
4. Visualize your goals
Can you visualize yourself being successful? Look back at your dream and visualize as if it was already happening. Feel that it is happening right now. Can you imagine it? Can you feel it? Only if you are able to visualize your success no matter if it means money, having employees, losing weight or anything else for you, if you cannot visualize it it will never become reality. Act as if you are already that person, does it feel good? „YES“ So why would you stop that good feeling, why not keep acting as if your dream is already true?
5. Set your goals
A dream is just a dream until you set a goal! Write it down your monetary and personal goals, long term (1 year, 5 years) and short term (6months, 1 month, 2 weeks) and see how you can make it happen. Have a book with you where you can write down your goals. For example I keep a book on my desk where I write down the monthly goals of instagram followers of our Mein Monogramm account. We have now around 900 followers. Looking at it now I can easily say „That is not enough, we need more. Look at that other account with 15k followers…“ But looking back at how many followers we gained over the past months makes me feel good and I see what we accomplished so far. Setting the goals for each month keeps me on track and motivates me to give my very best to realize it or even outperform it.
6. Surround yourself with like minded people
There is nothing worse than having a positive mindset set for success and somebody else comes around and influences you with bad energy. With just a few words everything you worked for so hard can be ruined. Don’t surround yourself with those kind of people but find people that have the same positive mindset, who support you with your ideas and even help you taking the next steps.
So now you read these 6 steps and you have everything you need to change your mindset and with that your lifestyle and success and believe me there will always be those people who look up to you with jealousy in their eyes thinking „Why not me?“
