The progress that I didn’t see coming
Do you know the feeling of sitting behind your desk, staring at your computer and thinking: „Why on earth am I doing this fill in blank ________ (blogging, networking, answering emails, sending a newsletter….)Â . It doesn’t change anything.“ And if you have never been doing this, I am doing this quite a lot. But this week I had an eye opening success story that I want to share with you here.
Beginning this week I was preparing the newsletter for the price list templates launch. Our newsletter subscribers always get a nice early bird reduction when we launch a new product in our store, so I needed to make this newsletter for them. I opened my mailchimp program and scrolled curiously down to the launch of the welcome kit template that we launched around the same time of the year in 2014. I was more distracting myself on purpose because I didn’t want to start on the newsletter but so I scrolled down. Funny enough I found that the newsletter for the welcome kit launch German, which was the first product in my little template shop, was send on exactly the same date just one year ago. I think this funny fact was the only reason I opened the newsletter to see the statistics behind it and it hit me in the face: since sending that newsletter one year ago I didn’t double the number of subscribers to my newsletter list….. I doubled it T-E-N (10!) times. I didn’t expect that result at all. I didn’t even look at the list the last months I didn’t pay attention to it at all. This small unexpected step forward totally made my day (maybe even my week) and I want to encourage you to have a look at your statistics, at your visitors, at your sign-ups and your inquiries or anything that could just made a little progress since you started. Look at it – see the result – happy dance around your desk and realize the small steps you are making towards that big goal that lays in front of you.
What are you small achievements? What did you accomplish? Let me know :-)
